Meet Evie Jane

After nearly 23 hours of labor, Evie Jane Backer (8 lbs, 6 oz / 21.5”) was born at 7:27pm on Friday, March 27th. Mom and baby are fighting through some minor complications but all-in-all, life is good… and all are on the road to good health and are incredibly happy!

We’re hoping to return home at some point on Monday. Anxious to catch up with you all once order is restored (this does happen, right?!?).

The new 20

Linds turned the big 3-0 today and started the day with the Backer birthday tradition of breakfast in bed. It'll be hard to top Jay's performance (see below), but Linds claims if I take her out for a quesadilla and her first beer in 251 days... and can convince TLO to make his/her grand entrance it'll be the "best day ever".

Wish me luck.

Great expectations

Our friend Michelle turned 30 this weekend and hubby Jason put scored some serious points (and raised the bar rather high I might add!) by inviting her 30 or so closest friends for a night of paella and drinks at Cafe Maude's private dining room, the Armitage Room. To top the evening off, Jay arranged a surprise, private musical set by Michelle's favorite local band... Roma di Luna (http://www.romadiluna.com/).

Quite the night. Good work my friend!

Room in the inn

TLO's nursery is an outlet cover and a set of mini-blinds away from being complete, so I thought we'd share a couple photos.

Yes, we're aware that the bumper and comforter have got to go once baby arrives. Yes, I tried to make the argument that we could've saved some cash by buying just the mattress cover separately and not the entire "Zanzibar" bedding super-pack with said SIDS agents. No, that wouldn't have been cute enough...

37 down, 3 to go

Belly update time...

The book says the Little One is now officially "full term", weighing nearly 6.5 lbs and spanning nearly 20 inches (no wonder Linds feels ready to pop!). The doc says TLO is head down and all ready to go... its now just a matter of time.

All are getting quite anxious (pups included, as you can see!).

Whew!

After a night of hugging the toilet bowl and frequent contractions Linds and I paid a visit to Abbott NW's Maternity Assessment Center, per doctor's orders. As it turns out Linds likely had a case of food poisoning, which obviously caused to the stomach issues but also contributed to the dehydration-induced contractions. After an IV and a several spoonfuls of ice chips mom and baby were back to normal.

No less than an hour after returning home the nesting rightfully amplified and I was handed an exhaustive "honey do NOW" list. Tick, tock.

At least I know where to park!

Linds captured the blogmaster and his study buddy in their standard Saturday morning set up. Slow news week, what can I say?
