No Minnesota summer is complete without a trip to the Water Park...

Camping Hay Creek

The fam' headed SE this weekend to join the McNerneys and Furbers for a few nights of camping in Red Wing, MN at the Hay Creek Valley Campground.  Despite the thick humidity and a few intermittent nasty storms we pieced together a nice little escape from the Big City.    


Highlights include a day trip to Wabasha's National Eagle Center, water parkin' it in Red Wing, making friends with the site's horses, ponies & barn cats and lounging in Hay Creek.

Big sis'

Watching Evie make strides daily toward "big girl" independence during this "no, I wanna do it" phase is pretty darn cute and often quite impressive, though it means everything takes three times as long... and puts poor little Sawyer at a much higher concussion risk!

9 months

SRB turned nine months this week.  Here's the monthly update:


A few of Sawyer's latest tricks include...

• Unassisted standing (she's a pro... until she realizes she's standing unassisted, that is)
• Climbing up steps
• Waving "bye-bye"

A few of Sawyer's latest favorites include...

• Her "wubba" (the little pink, chenille and satin blanket she cannot sleep without) 
• Raspberries (E & S devour an entire package in seconds)
• Being chased, being tickled... and especially, being chased AND tickled 

Taste of Stillwater

Linds and I left the kids with Auntie La this past Saturday and took a day trip to Stillwater to check out the Taste and peruse the shops of Main Street.


I'd argue that Stillwater's beer (Lift Bridge Brewery) and wine (St. Croix Winery) are as good as any... though the "high" of having a kid-free afternoon may have clouded my judgement!

Pool girls

La, Amina and "Miss Emily" hosted a little shindig out in SLP this weekend.  Given Minnesota's oppressively hot and humid July this year... it was just what the doctor ordered!

Luca's 3rd

Evie's buddy, Luca, turned three over the holiday weekend and threw a Cars II themed birthday bash at a nearby park.


Despite the look on the guest of honor's face... the party was a hit all around and EJB now frequently asks "maybe can I go to a birthday party later?".
