2025 Misty Run Wildlife

It seems like we have fewer and fewer critters visiting the backyard these days...

After much of the neighboring farmland and forest were gobbled up by new home development, Bonaire had just one large plot of natural habitat remaining... and the new mega church demolished all of that, sadly.

Aside from the 8 billion frogs and nearly as many rabbits, our most frequent guests are family of pheasants and a family of sandhill cranes. Also photographed in or near our backyard this year were a Cooper's hawk, a giant snapping turtle, a mallard duck, a great blue heron and a bald eagle.

The most elusive photo we're dying to capture is of the great horned owl that hear frequently, especially late at night in the fall and winter. Maybe next year?!?

S & I road-tripped to Fargo to watch NDSU thump St. Mary's 94-36.

Fun game and good energy in the "SHAC", despite the blowout and school still being on holiday break.

WHS GBB @ Cretin-Derham Hall

A pair of ~50-pt wins for the Trojan JV (8-0) and varsity (7-3) squads vs. Madeleine Hamiel and CDH crew in St. Paul.

(Evie set a "PR" for JV scoring with 22, BTW 👐... 26 is her HS record from freshman year)

WHS GBB @ the Granite City Holiday Classic

Wayzata's JV (7-0) thumped Alexandria in Sartell and the varsity (6-3) handled DeLaSalle at the College of St. Ben's.

Our Xmas

Frosty's Bar at Brit's, tiramisu-making, gingerbread house competition, tag-team starring the tree (for the first time), thoughtful gifts and plenty of quiet time together.

It's the mooooost wonderful tiiiiime of the yeeaarrrr! 

Cooks for Kids

The girls made brunch for 30 at the St. Paul Ronald McDonald House over the holiday break, trying to make life a little easier and "homey" for those struggling health challenges at Regions and Gillette.

The hoops season offered just 36 hours free to make the trip to Fairmont for Christmas with Nana and Greg... but, we packed in the fun anyway.

WHS GBB @ Chaska

Wayzata's JV (6-0) and varsity (5-3) made light work of the Hawks at Chaska High School to head into the holiday break with some positive momentum...

Happy 49th

Birthday breakfast... on the couch this year (as dear ol' Dad woke up before the cooks, as you can see 😂).

And, the best gift ever this year... a two-person snuggle-hoodie for movie nights!

Wayzata GBB @ Johnston, IA

Wayzata chartered a bus to Des Moines, IA to play Notre Dame commit Jenica Lewis and "the Wayzata of Iowa", Johnston High School (back-to-back Iowa state champions on a 59-game winning streak).

JHS punched early and often, but Wayzata clawed back to within two baskets late in the game... but just couldn't close it out.

Wayzata's varsity is now 4-3.

(The JV did not play.)
