E's 3!

Evie Jane celebrated her 3rd birthday with family and friends over a couple frames of bowling at Pinstripes, Minneapolis' swankiest new alley.  


E's still beaming from her big day.  And the outrageously huge piles of new clothes and toys this first grandchild received will have her remembering it for some time.

16 & 17 months

On 2/13, SRB turned 16 months.  On 3/13, she turned 17 months.  Today, it's nearly 4/13.  In the spirit of catching up, this update is going to have to be a "two for one" (or is that a "one for two"?).


A few of Sawyer's latest tricks include...

• Extreme climbing (she's been a climber for months, but is now scaling tables, pianos and sinks in the blink of an eye)
• Acting out and singing songs (though she prefers the Cliff's Notes version, e.g. "row, row, streeeeam... merrily, merrily, dreeeeam")
• Not exactly a trick, and nothing to brag about... but S certainly has developed a Backer temper... and has quite the fight in her little 2.5 foot / 25 lb body (just try to steal a toy, or, heaven forbid, suggest a nap and you'll see... hey, you've been warned) 

A few of Sawyer's latest favorite things include...

• Her baby dolls (she cuddles, snuggles and rocks 'Lucy' all day long)
• Outside ("outside" coincidentally also happens to be one of her newest and loudest words/demands)
• School (S can't shed her coat and escape our grip fast enough every morning as we enter the toddler room)

MN Zoo

There's nothing like a surprisingly warm March sun to rustle up a little extra energy in the Minnesota Zoo's animals.  Literally every exhibit's "inmates" were soaking it up and putting on quite the show for all onlookers.  

Sawyer enjoyed a little roar-off she had with the tiger, and E's fave was a penguin that kept diving by her and giving through the glass "high fives/fins".

St. Pat's

Thanks to G'ma and G'Pa Maxwell, Linds and I were able to pack in a some "adult" St. Patrick's Day fun this year.  We kicked off the day at 9am with the "Get Lucky 7K" in NE Minneapolis, then rehydrated with various Irish brews and spirits at a handful of pubs across the metro.  


Great times, however, next year I intend to work some green Gatorade or Aquifina into the rotation.

MCM

This weekend we hit the Minnesota Children's Museum to check out the new "Grossology" exhibit.  Still, nothing tops the old standby, "Habitot", as far as E & S are concerned.

Rock the Cradle

We only were able to catch the tail end of this year's Rock the Cradle event at the MIA, but had just enough time to pack in a little disco dancing, a wildly strange puppet show, and a set by Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapels.  Oh, and best of all, E & S bumped into their buddy Maddie Rae and had their photo snapped on the red carpet by the event's paparazzi.
