Go Trojans!

A new era begins...

The Backers and Beermans took in our first Wayzata HS sporting event, cheering on our [new] home team under the lights in a border battle against the Maple Grove Crimson.

The Trojans lost, but the kids won... breaking curfew, and devouring boxes of popcorn and bags of M&Ms and Sour Patch Kids!

Queen Nana

NUHS honored its Homecoming Queen alums at this year's pre-game parade.  The girls thought it was pretty cool to see "Queen Nana" carted around in convertible... and even cooler when they got the invite to ride along!

Coyote Dash

E's elementary school celebrated health and fitness by coordinating a Coyote Dash (their mascot) event to to raise funds for a new playground - and get the kids out of the classroom for a 20 minute "fun run" around the school's soccer field.

(That's Ev's class and teacher, pre-race, in the bottom photo)

Wildwood RV Park & Campground

This weekend we dusted off our camping gear caravanned our way to Taylors Falls, WI for a weekend of outdoor fun with the Jungs.

The five little ones had a blast... especially while exploring the grounds' wooded (and oh-so-muddy) backdrop, looking for critters and "nuts with hats" (a.k.a. acorns) - and hiking around Osciola's beautiful Cascade Falls park.

(The adults had fun too, of course.)

First Day of Kindergarten

A lot of emotions in that smile.  Many, many more in Mom and Dad's.  While I can't imagine a more ready-for-school kid, I cannot believe the time is here!

D: What about Kindergarten are you most excited for?
E: Having Miss Fisher as my teacher.

D: Are you nervous about anything?
E: No.

D: Who's your best friend?
E:  Ali (Dwyer).

D:What's your favorite book?
E:  My Friend & I by Lisa Jahn-Clough.

D: What's your favorite food?
E:  Ice cream.

D:What's your favorite thing to play?
E:  Buck, Buck, Moose!

D: What's your favorite thing about yourself?
E: That I can stay in the lines (when I draw).

D: What's one thing that you really want to do this year?
E:  Go to Florida with Savannah and Alayna and Gracyn.

D: What do you want to be when you grow up?
E: Be a mom and a teacher.

MN State Fair

This year's State Fair trip was a wet one, but we still managed to sneak in some fun at the Kidway, get up close and personal with a bunch of baby barnyard animals, sample a few local brews... and eat ourselves ill.

Take [E] out to the baalllll game

Nana and Greg took E & I to the Twins/Tigers game at Target Field.  E loved watching the scoreboard and tracking balls, strikes & outs... but, despite my attempts to manage expectations, was a little disappointed we didn't catch a foul ball.

King of the Jungle

Perhaps the happiest of the bunch with our new home is Big G.  He's got free reign of the cul-de-sac, and seems to believe he's just one of the kids... always in the mix when the neighborhood gang is out and active.  And, when duty calls, he reverts to keeper of the land... feverishly on the lookout for pesky wildlife to chase out of "his" kingdom.
