Memorial Day Weekend

We made the most of a rare, long few days at home with no plans this Memorial Day weekend.  A little yard work, a little spring cleaning, trips to IKEA, Home Depot and Target, neighborhood play... and a daily family outing.

Pictures above from our "hike" at Elm Creek Reserve and happy hour on Libertine's Uptown rooftop (playing life-sized NA Beer Pong).

Crosslake

The Jungs got a cabin on the White Fish chain a few weeks ago, and we're already reaping the benefits.  The weather was cold and rainy, and we only had about 18 hours... but we still managed to work in a boat ride, discover a local bourbon room... and enjoy plenty of good times and laughs, as our 9-some seems to always do.

Thanks for the invite, J & J!

E's first recital

E performed Northwest Passage by Melody Bober at her first ever piano recital... and by memory, at that.

Happy Mother's Day

This Mother's Day, the girls treated L to brunch at Redstone and an afternoon of shopping for and planting flowers and vegetables.  If they're still alive come Father's Day (the plants, that is), I'll be impressed.

Convicts

J & J and L & I emerged from the Twin City's newest escape room Zero Hour with just six seconds to spare (after breaking a pay phone, finding planted key from previous players/inmates, and receiving half a dozen clues).  But still...

Yard Party

La and Opie had the gang over for a Spring weekend barbeque.  Next time we'll all remember that its BYOFurniture at the Heiderscheidts.  :-P

Picture #2 was taken a millisecond before S impaled my lens with her football (and bruised my eye socket).  And, about 10 seconds before her flip-flop landed half a block away!

Day at the Museum

E's 2nd grade class headed to Mill City Museum for their final field trip of the year, and Linds was able to chaperone (it's only fair, as she did the same for S's year-end trip to the Zoo).

E & R

Romy with his favorite babysitter...

Cavaliers

E played 2nd/3rd grade spring ball at the local Y (with yours truly coaching).  The team (the Cavs) went 5-2... scoring just six points week one, and steadily improving week-by-week (winning our finale and scoring into the 30s by season end).

E was a smart defender, a careful passer, reliable for a coast-to-coast layup and a rebound put back each game, and loved when she got her turn at point each game.  Above find her in action at PG, and our team running the league's most popular play, the surround-the-ball-handler-after-he/she-picked-up-his/her-dribble play.

Not so humerus

Broken limbs in the final weeks of kindergarten seem to be a family tradition in this household.

One-upping her big sister's 2015 brake (jumping off a couch in an attempt to hang from a ceiling fan), Sawyer's failed leap from a playground platform onto the support beams of a zip line resulted in a fractured humerus on dominant arm and required surgery to pin everything back in place at the elbow (and 15 hours in the hospital over two days).  She was calm and tough as nails throughout.  Mom and Dad?  Not so much...

Spring Training

The girls have been getting excited about the upcoming softball season, taking BP and playing catch in the basement.  Grandpa Tom was on the mound this particular day...

Brews Cruise

This Easter, after the egg hunt madness, we met up with Nana and J&T's crew and biked the Midtown Greenway to the Midtown Global Market for some boardgames, craft brews and Manny's Tortas.

Skate school

After a couple years of pond-skating, the girls were ready to up their game and asked to sign up for skating lessons.  E wants to learn the twirly-whirlies, and S says she's training for hockey (smh).

Takin' on Takins

S's kindergarten class went on their year-end field trip to the MN zoo.  Here Sawyer, Eloise and Cade pose for their chaperone (Linds).
