Deep sea fishing

Ok, not really.  But, I promised S I take her deep sea fishing on spring break this year, and... it didn't happen.  To make it up to her, we chartered a boat and guide on Lake Minnetonka.  It was slow, but S cleaned house on our prop bets, with the first, biggest (her first northern pike), and most diverse range of fish in the boat (that northern, two largemouth bass, two sunfish, and a rock bass).

Date night

E & I hit the town for sushi and Wonder's rolled ice cream.

Training Camp

Sawyer and more than a thousand other metro kids flooded Providence Academy's athletic complex for a two-day football camp hosted by the Minnesota Viking's Kyle Rudolph (with Karl Anthony Towns and Everson Griffen making cameos for a few hours).

S played football at recess after lunch every day last year, and it's creeping up on hockey and basketball on her favorite sport list.  While she played QB most days at lunch, she says she wants to be a WR one day, and seems to have the right attitude for it, as, while she loved camp, she complained each night about not getting the ball enough despite constantly being "wide open".

Camp Stages

Evs signed on for another round of summer camp with Stages Theatre at Armstrong Robbinsdale High, and capped it off with a Harry Potter-inspired performance (as if it'd be anything else).  I think she was a 'Dumblehog' or 'Hermiwart', or something...

State (Consolation) Champs

E's 8U Wayzata Lightning softball squad took home third place in the silver bracket of the Minnesota State Tournament with a string of wins over Edina, Minnetonka and Eagan after a tough loss to Robbinsdale Cooper Armstrong team (and their not-so-classy, and cowbell-obnoxious parents).

The team made a weekend of it too, with pizza parties and ice cream to fuel up between games, and hours of "recovery" in the hotel pool, with the parents half supervising, half happy houring nearby.

Fairmont, Take II

With the 4th awkwardly placed on a Wednesday this year, we had get creative to get in our Hall Lake holiday time at Nana's... so we scooted down the weekend prior, and snuck in as much water time as we could between wind and thunder storms.  Cousin Nelly (from AZ) joined for a day as well with her not-so-little-anymore ones Owen and AnDee.

My personal highlight was seeing Sawyer pull the biggest fish out of a Fairmont lake that I've personally ever seen, an 18" sheepshead!  A close second was Nana offering to keep the kiddos a few extra days!

Welcome to the Big City

Grandpa Tom semi-retired and packed up and moved from his hometown of New Ulm to the Metro, right smack dab in the middle of us three kids (Minnetonka).  We ditched the kids (and Opie) and welcomed him with a round of drinks at the local tap room.

Father's Day

A hog pile of love to kick of Dad's Day...

3-on-3

The Wayzata Girls 3-on-3 teams were undefeated (when they weren't playing each other) in Maple Grove's 3-on-3 tournament, including a "lights out" win over Adrian Peterson's daughter!

E played up with her "A-Team" BFFs (Isabella, Annika and Mallory) and over the course of the month really stepped up her game (shots had to get up quicker, feet had to move faster, passes had to be crisper), and filled in where the team needed her.  Lots of picks, tough 'D' and the occasional jumper.
