Wayzata 3A

Sawyer's licking her chops now that the chaos of rec hoops is behind her and she's back to travel.  Her 3A travel team came out of the gates hot, going 6-0 in their first two tournaments... with an average margin of victory of 34 points!

Fun to see her and her buddy Beckett back on the court together, and fun to see some of the chemistry she had with a few rec teammates dialing up a notch.

E on a breakaway at the Farmington Classic.  Not sure what the coach is so mad about?

Regional Champions

S & six of her buddies trained for 10 weeks to compete in a Regional Destination Imagination Challenge in St. Paul... and won!  The team earned the right to compete at the State level in a few weeks (where they can compete for Nationals, then Worlds).

DI is an open-ended creativity and problem-solving program were kids tackle various challenges with specific parameters (e.g. build a bridge with only playing cards and duct tape that is W feet long, X inches tall, and can support an object weighing Y ounces for Z seconds) and bring it to life with a theatrical performance.  And, its 100% kid-led (i.e. no adult help other than coordinating practice times and dolling out example challenges meant to ready the crew for competition day).

So fun and so impressive to see the little ones playing adult with group dynamics and real world-ish problem-solving!

Rec Runners-Up

Sawyer's 3rd grade rec squad, the Splashers, wrapped up an undefeated House season at 14-0, ran through the end of season tournament... and got whooped in the championship by her buddy Beckett's #2 seeded team.  Lots of tears.  Lots of life lessons.  All washed away moments later with post-game ice cream!
