Nerstrand Big Woods State Park
Mayan Adventures
We started the morning snorkeling amongst tropical fish and stingrays in the Riviera Maya. Then, made our way deep into the Mayan Jungle to two cenotes... one an underground cave, and one equipped with zip lines and "Mayan Sacrifice" platforms.
Perfect Game
A long six hours at sea, choppy waters that knocked out three of the crew members with motion sickness, and only one bite all day... but, man, after wrestling that one bite for 20 minutes and to land a 7-foot, 45-lb sailfish... it was all worth it!
Playa Paraiso, Okol Paraiso
We spent the day on their private shoreline, in their private pool, the afternoon out on the town in Puerto Morelos for dinner and street vendor sweets (cotton candy and Nutella churros), and the evening watching Paige Bueckers and the UConn women's hoops team get upset by Arizona in the Final Four.
Isla Mujeres
Especially with Moon Palace's beaches closed due to waves, stingrays and jelly fish, the crew was excited to check out Isla Mujeres' brilliantly blue beaches and tourist trap "downtown" scene.
The Grand at Moon Palace
Our stay at the Grand was the family's first all-inclusive experience. Everything "free", every thing at your fingertips, everything served to you and cleaned-up for you, and a million options. Endless breakfast pastries, bottomless smoothies and adult beverages from the swim-up bar, seafood, spa time, surf & turf, made-to-order whatever, you name it... they had it.
E's resort faves were the shrimp pasta, Nutella crepes, virgin strawberry daiquiris and "basically having servants to do everything".
S's were steak dinners, dirty monkey drinks, the crepes as well, banana chocolate macaroons, golf cart rides and the moon pool.
L's were the calamari, spaghetti bolognese and the swim-up bar pools.
And, mine was the dulce de leche muffin crossaint, Italian Old Fashioned, playing football and Waboba in the pool... and the late night room service delivered to the in-room jacuzzi.
