5A @ Bloomington

Sawyer & company rolled to their second tourney championship of the season at the Timberwolves MLK Classic in Bloomington, beating OMGBAA, Edina and Lakeville North (where
Sawyer hit a pair of late clutch FTs to seal the title in the final seconds).

7A @ STMA

A leaner version of E's squad, down Ava and Harp due to Covid, played up (8A) at STMA and finished 3rd after a 2nd round loss to a tough Forest Lake team. Evie had one of her best defensive efforts, and her shot was on point all... day... long.

E's really stepping into her role as the team's spot-up sharp shooter, getting to spots and ready to fire when her teammates find her. So fun to see her hard work paying off.

5A @ STMA

WGBA's 5A squad took 2nd at STMA running into a buzzsaw vs. Annandale after defeating OMGBAA and Waconia. Though, the team took something away in that championship 'L'... having come from 17 down with under 4 minutes to play to tie the game and push OT (Sawyer's late game steal and bucket knotted it up to close out regulation).

Winter Wonderland

Sure, it's biting cold in MN in January... but one can't just sit around and wait for May. True Minnesotans skate, hoop, golf, tube... and even still eat ice cream (malts at Snuffy's in this case).

5A Wolves Experience

S's hoops squad participated in the Play Where the Pros Play event at the Target Center, playing OMGBAA in an exhibition game on the Wolves court prior to their evening game vs. OKC.
The team won, but what the kids will remember most is the "lights out" pregame intros and getting their names called on the PA when they got buckets...

Wayzata Classic (7A)

Wayzata 7A took home the gold at their own Classic tourney after the turn of the New Year. It's always special to play on your home court, but this year the team was joined on the sidelines by Wayzata's varsity "celebs" (Mara, Brynn, Soph) who brought some critical bench energy (or "benergy" as the kids call it), particularly in a nail-biter vs. Chanhassen in the title game.

Maxwell Xmas

COVID shut down the Maxwell Christmas celebration back-to-back years, so virtual Xmas 2.0 was deployed once again. Short and sweet, but spoiled as always! Fingers crossed for 2023!

Happy New Year / Goodbye 2021

Well, we almost escaped another year COVID-free...

On the morning of December 26th, about to hit the road for Grandview Lodge, to err on the side of caution having woke up with a head cold... I tested positive for COVID. Follow-up tests showed E & L as (asymptomatically) positive as well.

So, we lost GVL, Xmas with the Maxwells and Xmas with G'Pa Tom, a few holiday hoops practices, and a bit of our sanity as we locked down for the final 10 days of break. Poor Sawyer, the healthy one, suffered the worst of it, isolating in mask, in her room for the duration being careful not to catch the bug.

But, you know us, we made sure to find creative ways to have fun and stay connected. FaceTime games, dinners, et cetera, and watching the same movies a floor apart.

Here's to 90 days of immunity to kick off 2022!
