Achilles

Well, it finally happened. Not many make it to 45 playing hoops routinely without succumbing to "the big one" (either the Achilles or an ACL tear).

Felt like I got popped in the heel with a shotgun, and whipped around ready to fight whoever kicked me from behind as I pulled up for a three on the break. But, there was nobody within 10 feet. My left Achilles had just worn itself out.

Surgery was successful, thank goodness. Now it's 10 days of bed rest, 6 weeks in a cast, 6 more in a boot (still no load-bearing, still on crutches), then 3 months of PT before working back to resuming normal activity.

My goal is to get back on the court as Wayzata 8A's 10th to scrimmage with E's practice squad one last time before sending her off to HS teams and HS coaches. I've got til February 23 to get back to 100%.

I've got this.

The big ol' bear is turning out to be A-OK...

Softball Family

Sisters, teammates, mascot.

Cole's 21st

A little surprise gathering for Colby Jack's big day at Psycho Suzy's.

Gustie Camp

Evie and Harper spent a half week in St. Peter at Gustavus's Basketball & Leadership camp, her first overnighter... and it sounds like not her last.

Sure, the basketball was fun, but the college cafeteria's unlimited options, including Sprite and ice cream available at every meal, the ability to order late night pizza to the dorm room, and the feeling of freedom 24/7 were the camp's most unforgettably great moments for the girls.

12U Gold State Qualifer

E, S & company dang near "wrestled back" to the championship game at this year's State Qualifier after rattling off five straight wins in the loser's bracket before falling short against Westonka.

Both girls hit their way out of slumps, Sawyer hitting her first HR batting E around the bases, and both made some big plays in the field.
