The Backer Bunch

Speaking of reunion, it sure was this year... with 78 of the 104 Backers making the trip (and 75 of them making this photo).

Kavanaugh's [Reloaded]

... but, this year's extended stay afforded some experimentation with new activities at the annual Kavanaugh's "reunion". 

The Bad Habit brewery stop, Safari Park, jet ski rentals, Dock 77 dinner, pie at The Barn, and night out on Gull (thanks to Joe's buddy Paul) new additions are looking like they'll need to be permanent fixtures in the years ahead.

It's hard to beat the basketball, volleyball, floatee/island/sandbar, Madden's ice cream run, go-karts, mini golf, Zorbaz, horseback-riding, pontoon day, canoe fishing and countless hours of pool time traditions... 

Caroline

The girls lucked out once again and had a spectacular nanny this summer in "C-Bo", a recent WHS grad and former HS buddy coach for E's 5-2 hoops squad a few years ago.

We're going to miss having you around, Caroline! 

And, BTW, the you're welcome to host a slumber party at your U of I dorm any time... 😀

It's Her Shot

Dick's Sporting Goods, Nike and the one and only Sheryl Swoops collaborated to put on the It's Her Shot road tour promoting pickup ball for young female hoopers. Just three stops, but one had to be the emerging women's basketball mecca of MN (Peavey Park, Phillips, Minneapolis).

Sawyer got hot during Queen of the Court, a 1:1, make-it-take-it game when the event's biggest mic walked by and had a few minutes of fame as the emcee went off "And1 Mix Tape"-style calling the play-by-play.

 ... though, this one would argue that there are MANY aspects of my recovery that are getting old fast. Like mowing the lawn in 95 degree heat, on top of her other million responsibilities these days.

Lake Life

The girls, tired of waiting on Dad and his bum leg, cut out for an evening on Lake Minnetonka with the Bergenheiers.

Twins win!

Uncle Joe took G'pa Tom and the cousins to a Twins game that ended with a walk-off homer and fireworks.

DTB takes VF

The DTB coaches promised the girls a Valleyfair day if they closed the season with a few revenge wins... and each "side" made good on their commitment!

Fun in Fairmont
